We are the only national foundation dedicated to lifting up the most vulnerable Korean Americans.
Why Our Work Matters
Korean Americans are the fifth-largest Asian American ethnic group, with 1.8 million living in the U.S.—the largest Korean population outside of Korea. As the largest organization mobilizing Korean Americans through philanthropy, KACF has brought together generations of donors to give back nearly $17 million to strengthen our communities. After more than two decades of focus on the New York metropolitan area, KACF is expanding its impact nationwideㅡleading a philanthropic movement by and for our community.
11% of Korean Americans live in poverty
49% of Korean immigrants ages 5+ have limited English proficiency
The Korean 65+ population has grown by 69% in the last decade
73% have limited English proficiency, and 39% are low-income
Our Three-Pillar Approach
Strengthening Nonprofits
We partner with nonprofits that are closest to the communities they serve, providing them with funding and capacity-building support. These organizations play a vital role in addressing economic insecurity and other critical challenges.
Data & Research
The challenges facing vulnerable Korean Americans are often invisible due to a lack of data—lack of visibility means fewer resources and policy solutions. We are committed to filling this gap by commissioning and funding groundbreaking research.
Culture of Giving
We are leading the first and only national effort to foster a culture of giving that advances Korean American participation and leadership in philanthropy. To date, we have brought together generations of donors to give back nearly $17 million to strengthen our community.
